Registration is currently open for AIBEc's Spring 2007schedule that begins on Monday Jan. 15th 2007 In an effort to meet the ever changing Russian environment AIBEc is offering some new and updated courses this semester:

- PLEASE NOTE A COUPLE OF CHANGES: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN THE SPRING 2007 SEMESTER, MANAGING PEOPLE IN ORGANIZATIONS WILL BE TAUGHT ON MONDAYS BY GERGORY TROUSAV. MR TROUSAV HAS EXTENSIVE CONSULTING AND TRAINING EXPERIENCE IN ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND HIS COURSE WILL BE INNOVATIVE AND USEFUL.
ALSO A NEW COURSE IN BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGY WILL BE TAUGHT BY DR. MIKKHALKOVA. 

-Comparative/Advanced Accounting will place a special emphasis on Valuation issues that impact many areas of business and also issues concerning International Accounting Standards. PLEASE NOTE THAT THOSE STUDENTS WHOHAVE TAKEN FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING CAN TAKE THIS COURSE. ALSO IN THIS COURSE AS IN OTHER ACCOUNTING COURSES CASES ON COMPANIES THAT AIBEC STUDENTS WORK FOR WILL BE USED SUCH AS COCA COLA, HEWLETT PACKARD AND OTHERS.

-Marketing Action will be taught by Vadim Gregorian (AIBEc/INSEAD graduate), this course is esentially the same as Strategic marketing and will cover many cutting edge Marketing techniques. This course was very popular with students who felt that it was both creative and practical.

- Strategic Management will again be taught by Gerald Rohan who is a top expert at PWC and he has many years of practical experience in the application of strategic issues.

- Marketing Communication is a new course that covers many issues of interest to Marketing professionals. Gregory Troussav who has extensive experience in Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing issues. Gregory's course on Marketing research was very popular with AIBEc students.

 - Kostya Kontor will be teaching a course entitled The Management of Change. This course will deal with many issues companies face in an everchanging global environment.

- A special new course in Real Estate will be taught by John Harrison who has edited Real Estate journals in Russia and in China for many years and who knows some of the leading players in Moscow real Estate who will be invited as guest speakers for his course.

      Course offerings, Spring Semester:
      January 15 - April 29, 2007
       

      Financial Accounting:  This course provides students with a thorough review of accounting issues of importance to most organizations, such as Accrual Accounting, Bad Debts, Inventories, Investments, Cash Flows and Ratio Analysis. US GAAP and IAS concepts are emphasized. Fridays 7pm to 10pm, Art Franczek 

      Managerial Accounting:  This course provides students with a thorough review of most Managerial Accounting issues of importance to many organizations such as Cost Allocation, Activity Based Costing, Budgeting, Standard Costing, Just In Time Inventory and many other topics. Tuesdays 7pm to 10pm, Art Franczek 

      Updated! Comparative/Advanced Accounting: This course covers advanced topics such as Leasing, Valuations, Consolidated Financial Statements, Foreign Currency Transactions and Translation. Also Russia's transition to IAS will be discussed in detail as the professor has worked on a project with the World Bank dealing with this issue. A special emphasis will be placed on comparisons between GAAP and IAS. Wednesdays 7pm to 10pm, Art Franczek 

      Corporate Finance: This course is an introduction to allocation of capital over time, capital budgeting, financial management and other topics using basic mathematical models. This course focuses upon the application of Corporate Finance issues in Russia. Thursdays 7pm to 10pm, Konstantin Kontor

      New: The Management of Change: The creation of corporate myths is most detrimental in the process of management of change - cost cutting, restructuring, targeting new markets and introducing new goods and services, and corporate mergers and acquisitions. The primary goal of the Course is to provide the students with the better understanding of the mentioned problems and to describe tools of alleviating them. Of special importance will be the role of globalization and the influence of capital markets, including financial institutions. As a result, a much better communications basis could be established between all stakeholders in the management process - both incumbents (company owners, managers, strategic investors, employees) and externals (clients, suppliers, competitors, investors, and the public at large.)       International Finance and Risk Management: This course discusses the priciples of international finance (economics of the international environment, purchasing power parity, and sources of risk in the international financial markets) and the theoretical background on which the practices of operation of the international financial markets are based. Tuesdays 7 pm to 10 pm, Konstantin Kontor, Professor.

      Principles of Marketing: This course provides students with an overview of marketing in a modern international business. The latest materials and case studies are used in this course. Mondays 7pm to 10pm, Tom Nastas 

      Updated:Marketing Action: This course focuses on Brand Strategy and Implementation with an emphasis on luxury goods. The professor for this course will be an AIBEc and INSEAD graduate. Saturdays 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm , Vadim Grigoryan 

      Updated: Marketing Communications :  This course examines topics such as Public Relations, Advertising and Sales Negotiations. The course will be extremely interactive and a significant portion of the class will be devoted to business games, presentations and other training activities. Wednesdays 7pm to 10pm, Gregory Troussov/Elena Malkova

      Updated: Strategic Management:  Recent topics in Strategy as they are applied internationally and in Russia will be discussed. Many recent cases will be used and there will be a special focus on implementation of strategies. Thursdays 7pm to 10pm, Gerald Rohan

      NEW: Commercial and Residential Real Estate: This course will cover some major issues in Real Estate such as Real Estate Development, Investment Analysis,Valuation Techniques, Market Analysis, Logistics Market and more. The professor of this course was the editor Commercial Real Estate magazine and has written over 300 article on Russian Real Estate. It is planned that leading Real Estate business people will be guest speakers. Fridays 7-10pm, Sat 10am, John Harrison professor.

           Managing People in Organizations: This course provides students with the application of Social Sciences to problems of managing individuals and the teams in large and small businesses. Mondays 7pm to 10pm, Gregory Troussav

       

      New! Business Psychology: This course examines the manifestations and roots of the irrational, both positive and destructive, processes in corporations. Of particular interest are be the ideas and particular tools for better understanding and unconscious needs and emotional reasoning that usually stay shadowed and unspoken. Numerous examples of irrational decision making, specific leadership styles, teamwork impasses are analyzed in terms of general theory.

 Art Franczek (artf at online.ru, 373 6241): Art holds an MBA and MST from DePaul University and is a CPA. He has many years of experience as a Tax Manager for a major international company. He has taught at AIBEc for 10 years and has taught over 1500 Russian students. He is currently co-chair of the Customs Committee at Am Cham and has been an active participant on the Tax Committee for 10 years. He has written many articles on Accounting/Tax issues and has recently published a workbook on IAS Accounting and is currently working with The World Bank on a project to convert Russian Accounting to IAS.

 Konstantin Kontor (kkontor at kkp-partners.ru): Kostya holds an MBA from UCLA (a top ranked MBA Program) and has worked for several years as the director of research for RINACO Plus, a major Moscow brokerage firm. He is one of the first students to graduate from AIBEc in 1992 and has taught finance at AIBEc since 1994. Kostya is also the managing director at KKP Partners and a professor of Financial Strategy at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

Tom Nastas (tom at online.ru): Tom holds an MBA from Michigan State ( a top ranked MBA Program). He has many years of experience a Venture Capitalist in Russia and other emerging markets. He has several years of experience teaching marketing at Michigan State University.


Gerald Rohan:  Gerald is an American who has extensive experience with Price Waterhouse Coopers. He is currently the Director of Global Energy and Mining at PWC and he is the co-chair of he Energy committee at Am Cham. He has taught at The Plekhanov Academy for several years. 



Vadim Grigorian: Vadim holds a CBS from AIBEc and an MBA from INSEAD. He has extensive experience in marketing and is currently the marketing director for Pernod Ricard Rouss. He has written several business cases for INSEAD and one his cases ie Diesal has won awards for the most popular marketing case in Europe.

 Gregory Troussov: (troussov at expertkey.com):(www.expertkey.com): Gregory is the president of "Kontakt-Expert" Consulting Company in Moscow, which provides consulting services in the areas of strategy,marketing,performance management, and personel development. Gregory holds an MBA from The University of Colorado and has lived and worked in the US for several years. He has extensive experience in applying Marketing Research Methodologies to Russian companies. Also Gregory has taught marketing at the Economics Academy in Moscow. He has recently written a book on Marketing in Developing Economies that will be published soon.

 Ekaterina Mikhailova Phd is a co-founder and a leading counselor of the two affiliated training institutes: The personal Training Center 'Klass" and Institute of Group and Family Psychotherapy and Psychology (IGSPP). Since 1995 she has been teaching and training professionals both in the fields of therapeeutic groupwork and interactive education. She is the author of several books on various aspects of counseling, training coaching and psychotherapy including "Vasilisa's Spindles" and the "Trifles of Psychology"

 John Harrison: has worked in Russia for 18 years in various positions. He was a correspondent for Britains Daily Express, he operated his own firm daling with PR and media relations for Western companies setting up business in Russia and he was an editor for pulications such as Russia Review and Commercial Real Estate. He was a founder of Passport magazine and until recently was its managing editor.Currently he is the editor of a Commercial Real Estate Journal in China. He has written over 300 articles on Real Estate issues. He has a Masters degree in Russian studies from Exeter University.
