DEAR AIBECERS:

ENCLOSED IS THE FALL 2005 SCHEDULE OF AIBEC CLASSES. THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS IS MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2005. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT A COUPLE OF NEW CLASSES THAT WILL BE OFFERED AT AIBEC:

1) MARKETING RESEARCH WILL BE TAUGHT BY GREGORY TROUSSOV. MR TROUSSOV IS PRESIDENT OF "KONTAKT -EXPERT" CONSULTING COMPANY IN MOSCOW. THIS FIRM SPECIALISES IN MARKETING RESEARCH AND STRATEGIC ISSUES. MR TROUSSOV HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN APPLYING MARKETING RESEARCH CONCEPTS TO RUSSIAN COMPANIES.

MR. TROUSSOV HAS AN MBA FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AND HAS LIVED IN THE US FOR 7 YEARS. HE HAS TAUGHT MARKETING AT THE ECONOMICS ACADEMY IN MOSCOW AND HAS WRITTEN A BOOK ON MARKETING AS IT APPLIES TO DEVELOPING COUNTRIES THAT WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

2) INFORMATION TECHNOLGIES WILL BE TAUGHT BY ELENA SETTLES Phd. ELENA HAS A Phd FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE AND HER DOCTORAL DISSERTATION WAS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN RUSSIA AND IS ENTITLED RUSSIA IN THE ELECTRONIC WORLD: A MULTILEVEL PATTERN ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PRESENCE, DISTRIBUTION, ACCESS AND DEVELOPMENT.

DR SETTLES HAS PUBLISHES SEVERAL ARTICLES ON THE RUSSIAN IT INDUSTRY AND SHE HAS GIVEN PRESENTATIONS ON THIS TOPIC TO PROFESSIONAL GROUPS. SHE  ALSO HAS EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE. ELENA CURRENTLY WORKS AS AN IT CONSULTANT.

THIS CLASS PROMISES TO BE MOST INTERESTING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE IT EXPERIENCE AND THOSE STUDENTS WHO HAVE NO BACKROUND IN THIS AREA. MANY CURRENT TOPIC WILL BE COVERED SUCH AS BLOGGING, HACKING, COMPUTER VIRUSES, IPR AND MANY OTHER CURRENT ISSUES THAT ARE INTERESTING FOR RUSSIAN/INTERNATIONAL BUSINESSES.

AIBEC IS VERY PROUD OF ITS FALL 2005 SCHEDULE AND BELIEVES THAT ALL OF ITS COURSES WILL HAVE PRACTICAL VALUE FOR ITS STUDENTS.

      Course offerings, Fall Semester:
      September 12 - December 17, 2005
       

      Financial Accounting:  This course provides students with a thorough review of accounting issues of importance to most organizations, such as Accrual Accounting, Bad Debts, Inventories, Investments, Cash Flows and Ratio Analysis. US GAAP and IAS concepts are emphasized. Fridays 7pm to 10pm, Art Franczek 

      Managerial Accounting:  This course provides students with a thorough review of most Managerial Accounting issues of importance to many organizations such as Cost Allocation, Activity Based Costing, Budgeting, Standard Costing, Just In Time Inventory and many other topics. Wednesdays 7pm to 10pm, Art Franczek 

      Comparative Taxation: This course provides students with a thorough review of tax systems of the U.S., Russia and other countries. The latest Russian Tax Reforms are discussed along with Offshore Tax Havens and many other current topics. Saturdays 10am to 1pm, Art Franczek

      Corporate Finance: This course is an introduction to allocation of capital over time, capital budgeting, financial management and other topics using basic mathematical models. This course focuses upon the application of Corporate Finance issues in Russia. Tuesdays 7pm to 10pm, Konstantin Kontor

      Takeovers, Restructuring and Corporate Governance: This course provides students with an exploration of Takeovers, Mergers, Divestitures, including strategies and empirical evidence, with examples drawn from International and Russian experience. Thursdays 7pm to 10pm, Konstantin Kontor

      Principles of Business Law: This course will cover Origins and  Theory of Law, Contract Law, Torts, the Court System and Procedure, Evidence, Debtor-Creditor Law, Negotiable Instruments and the Banking System, Property & Business Organizations. As a survey course, each area will be touched on briefly. The course book is based on American law, but where differences exist Russian law will be explained.  Tuesdays, 7pm to 10pm, Vladimir Lissniak 

      Principles of Marketing: This course provides students with an overview of marketing in a modern international business. The latest materials and case studies are used in this course. Mondays 7pm to 10pm, Tom Nastas 

      Business Development Strategies (Entrepreneurship): This course provides students with many cases involving the development of new and continuing venture capital issues both in Russia and in other countries. Several leading business people will be guest speakers for this course. Wednesdays 7 pm to 10pm, Tom Nastas 

      NEW! International Human Resource Management :  This new course aims at presenting the Human Resource Management theories and practices through a modern and international perspective for MBA students. With support of international case studies from leading business schools, the lectures will be interactive and fun and offer the students a broad spectrum of examples to develop their knowledge in this field. Although this course is designed for students with no prior knowledge of HRM, people familiar with this area will however gain from the Cross-Cultural insight distilled throughout the lectures.       NEW! Marketing Research :  This is a new course at AIBEc that will focus upon the application of International Marketing Research methods in a Russian business environment. THURSDAYS 7pm to 10pm Gregory Troussov, Professor

      Information Technology: This course is called GLOBAL INNOVATIONS IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS. Some of the topics covered are Outsourcing, Intellectual Property rights, Hacking, Blogging and many other issues relating to the application of IT in an International/Russian Business Environment.SATURDAYS 10am to 1pm.
